FORGIVENESS HEALS MY HEART.
Few things have the constricting effect on my heart that resentment does. Even if I believe my anger is justified, I realize I am paying too high a price by holding on to it and letting it fester. Withholding forgiveness is a punishment I inflict only upon myself. Nothing is worth sacrificing my peace of mind.
Today I shift my thoughts away from what someone said or did that caused me to feel hurt. Instead, I place my attention on healing through forgiveness. I bless my tenderest self with thoughts of love and peace. Even if this is difficult at first, I keep at it, trusting that divine love within will soften my heart.
I begin to open myself to forgiveness. This burgeoning willingness is the first small step toward healing my heart.
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.—Psalm 86:5
